Claude Cowork Moves Into Chrome Side Panel
Anthropic upgraded Claude in Chrome into a Cowork session, letting browser tasks carry context across Claude desktop, web, and mobile surfaces.
The News
Anthropic announced that the Claude in Chrome side panel is now a Claude Cowork session. The extension can work across tabs, use skills and connectors, save conversations to history, and continue sessions across desktop, web, and mobile. It is available on Max and Team plans, with Pro rollout following.
The OPTYX Analysis
The browser is becoming the live operating surface for AI agents. Claude can act inside sites that lack direct connectors, including internal dashboards, vendor portals, and legacy tools, which expands agent reach beyond sanctioned integrations while preserving shared session context.
Enterprise AI Impact
Enterprise admins should treat browser-side agents as privileged workflow automation. Anthropic keeps Chrome access off by default for Enterprise and supports domain limits, but teams still need approved-site policies, prompt-injection training, and review rules for actions involving forms, messages, downloads, purchases, or sensitive data.
